Gabon to Launch Fully Digital e-Visa Payments by December 2025
Gabon will introduce online visa payments starting December 2025, ending cash transactions at Libreville’s Léon-Mba International Airport. The reform was confirmed on November 21 during a meeting between the Minister of Digital Economy, Mark Alexandre Doumba, and mobile-money operators Airtel Money, Moov Money, and Clikpay Money under the MaDigiPaie platform.
Under the new system, travelers will pay visa fees—about 46,000 FCFA for short stays and 121,000 FCFA for long stays—directly via mobile money. Authorities say this will reduce airport queues and align the country with international digital standards. It also builds on Gabon’s earlier rollout of a free tourist e-Visa between July 15 and September 15, 2025.
Tourism Minister Pascal Ogowé Siffon hailed the move, calling the free visa and new online payment system “a symbol of hospitality, modernity, and national ambition.”
The reform fully digitizes the visa process: travelers must register on the platform, select a registered host or hotel, and choose a certified tour operator before the DGDI processes the request.
Officials say the upgrade strengthens Gabon’s goal of becoming a leader in digital transformation in Central Africa, offering visitors a smoother and more secure entry experience.
