The Marshal of Chad IDRISS DEBY ITNO, President of the Republic, Head of State has signed the law promulgating the new Constitution.
It was during a ceremony Monday December 14, 2020 that took place at the presidential palace.
The new fundamental law revised and promulgated on December 14, 2020 is the result of the 2nd National Inclusive Forum held in N’Djaména from October 29 to November 1, 2020.
It comprises 244 articles and subdivided into 16 titles.
During the ceremony, the Minister Secretary General of the Government, Mrs. Mariam Mahamat Nour specified that the reform process that led to this finding as the supreme law of the State has respected all legal provisions.
According to her, the effective entry into force of the new constitution consecrates the refoundation of the Nation which is intended to be more ambitious and stronger.
Marshal of Chad IDRISS DEBY ITNO, President of the Republic, Head of State then signed constitutional law no. 017 / PR / 2020 of December 14, 2020, promulgating the new constitution.
Addressing the audience, the President of the Republic declares:
“This morning, I saw a civic emotion, the same as that which animated me on May 04, 2018 during the promulgation of the Constitution consecrating the 4th Republic. I speak of civic emotion because it is with a feeling of republican duty that I comply with customs by promulgating the fundamental law of our country ” .
Also, he greeted and congratulated the National Representation for the quality of its legislative work in the light of the very careful examination of the constitutional text submitted to its sagacity.
The Minister Secretary General of the Government, Mrs. Mariam Mahamat Nour then officially handes over a copy of the new Constitution to the Marshal of Chad, who brandished it to the applause of the audience.
Then followed a distribution of fifty copies of the new constitution to the personalities who took part in the ceremony which took place in strict compliance with barrier measures.
