French President Emmanuel Macron and Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad, met on Thursday at the Élysée Palace, according to a joint statement.
During the meeting, the two heads of state reviewed various aspects of the bilateral relationship and affirmed their ambition to build a revitalized partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests, notably in the economic field.
In this spirit, Paris and N’Djamena agreed on a series of guidelines intended to serve as a framework for re-energizing the Franco-Chadian partnership in areas of common interest.
The two sides indicated that discussions would continue to ensure the implementation and monitoring of the reciprocal commitments sovereignly undertaken in this framework.
The talks also touched on regional issues, particularly the situation in Sudan. The two presidents urged the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to implement the humanitarian truce proposed by the Quad, calling for the creation of an international environment conducive to a resolution of the conflict, while respecting the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
