The Central Africa regional Head Office of the African Development Bank Group based in Yaounde Cameroon has been officially inaugurated.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday April 12, 2024. It was chaired by Cameroon’s Prime Minister and Head of Government Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute.
The Prime Minister speaking during the inauguration said the AfDB is an important development partner to Cameroon, and the others countries of the Sub Region.
On the occasion, a loan agreement of 130 billion FCFA was signed between the bank and the government of Cameroon. Economy, Planning and Regional Development minister, Alamine Ousmane Mey, signed on behalf of the government of Cameroon, while the Vice President of the AfDB, Akin Olu-Gbade, Paraphrased for the group.
The Vice President, after praising the government of Cameroon for accepting the host the Head Office, saluted the rich cooperation between the bank and the government of Cameroon with over 121 operations and a portfolio of more than FCFA 3,652 billion.
The banking institution will henceforth have the opportunity to work closer to the different beneficiary communities.
The new Head Office inaugurated will just be temporal, because the bank is about to construct a permanent site in Yaounde. The Head Office agreement was signed in July 2019, and the government of Cameroon has secured 4,000 m2 plot of land in the heart of the administrative center in Yaounde.
The land title of the piece of land was handed over to the Vice President of the AfDB during the inauguration.
